“Noam Chomsky Spring Break 2002” by Department of Eagles

10 December 2005 at 8:14 am

The band: Department of Eagles (two 23yo Californians who met at NYU).

The tune: Noam Chomsky Spring Break 2002
(mp3 3:15) off an album called either/both “The Cold Nose” and/or “The Whitey on the Moon UK LP”.

I found this via Said the Gramophone mp3 blog.

The title refers to the band’s roadtrip to break in (unsuccessfully) to NC’s office at MIT, after which the song was written.

Meet the band: [official site]

Daniel Rossen (aka Iron Chrysalis, vocals and guitars) [bio page]

Fred Nicolaus (aka Butterfly Emerging, beats and samples) [bio page]

More tunes: [mp3s from the band] [RealAud from BBC] [Flash clips from Boomkat] [mp3 clips from label] [Amazon w/clips] [Flash clips at TuneTribe]

I like most of these, but not as much as NCSB2.

Reviews: [NewNoise] [PlayLouder] [Skatterbrain]

Entry filed under: loopy, melodic, patchwork, slow.
